Self-Help 101: Your One-Stop Guide To Better Living

On the internet, you’ll find tips on how to improve your finances, your home, and so much more. But how often do you read about how you can improve yourself? In this article, you’ll find advice that will help you to become the best you that you can possibly be.

Ask your friends and family for honest, positive feedback on your character. Earnestly requesting feedback is much different from simply fishing for compliments. Explain that you need help discovering things about yourself that make you a good friend, or what you could work on to become a more reliable and supportive friend.

Learn to recognize your negative thinking patterns — then reroute them to a more positive or realistic mindset. Do this with the help of a simple daily log, or work with a therapist to learn cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT has been proven to help people change their automtatic negative thinking into a more positive, realistic thought process.

Visualization can help you reach your personal development goals. There are many techniques and some research and experimentation is required. In general you will want to spend some time daily thinking quietly about your goals and what it will be like to attain them. Frequent visualization of a goal will help you integrate it as a reality in your mind and will help you create the new thoughts and behaviors required to achieve the goal.

Looking for personal growth? Educate yourself: You should read the news and find out more about the topics that interest you. Schools might not be the best place to learn: Find out for yourself what kind of knowledge you need and where to get it. Be very critical and spend your time reading only the best books.

When working on personal development, you should learn to accept change. Things are constantly changing in life, and you cannot control all of these changes. Since changes are going to happen, you might as well learn how to accept them and move on. There is no use in dwelling on how something used to be.

It is imperative that you commit to keeping your cool in the presence of others. Allowing yourself to blow up and lose control can have devastating effects on the quality of your relationships and your reputation at home, school, or at work. Regular outbursts can quickly cause your peers to put up defensive shields around you for fear of lighting your fuse.

While it’s great to spend time improving other aspects of your life, don’t forget to focus on yourself as well. Now that you’ve read this article, you’re already on the path to becoming a person you can be proud of. All you have to do is keep on following it.

    or,
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT),a type of counselling and treatment for people with mental health issues. see The Royal College of Psychiatrists

    Prozac (Fluoxetine Hydrochloride)
Prozac is one of the most widely prescribed antidepressants. Prozac is a serotonin reuptake inhibitor. Prozac significantly reduces the symptoms of panic disorder, OCD, phobic symptoms, anxiety and depressive symptoms, hypochondria, and has little side effects in comparison with other antidepressant agents. It is a serotonin reuptake inhibitor.

There are a number of SSRIs that is used to treat OCD.
    Seroxat (paroxetine)
    Prozac (fluoxetine)
    Faverin (fluvoxamine)
    Cipramil (citalopram)
    Lustral (sertraline)

  4. Yes, prozac is used in the treatment of OCD. However, it works drastically different for different people – and for many people it increases anxiety. Talk to your doctor about it if your interested in giving it a try.

Congrats on doing CBT. From what heard its the most effective treatment.
Good luck and God bless you.

  5. Firstly need to get your provisional license.

When 17, do your CBT. This will let you ride any bike up to 125cc. On the CBT you will need to show L plates, not take a pillion and not go on the motorway. The CBT will last for 2 years.

If you want to get a bigger bike/go on the motorway/take a pillion/take the L plates off need to do the proper test. At 17 you can only do the restricted test (category A) (that is it will allow you to ride anything up to 33bhp – any bike can be restricted to this).

You do a week(ish) long course, do a theory test, and two practical tests, all on a 125 bike – module one is in the playground doing all the manoevres, and module two is the road test. On this license, after 2 years you become "unrestricted" and can ride anything.

Your chosen bike school will be able to confirm everything and answer any specific questions.

    Enjoy!

  6. If you get a job, do volunteer work until you can find employment. have something to put on your resume, and you might meet some friends. There are sites that match you up with work…maybe volunteer.org? I remember the site, but that could be an option for you.

And I think you are as unsuccessful as you think you are. For example, your question was well written. Grammar, punctuation, spelling…you nailed it. Have you considered writing? You can write for sites like EHow, Epinions, and Helium to earn money (which would keep you busy when you doing volunteer work).

It sounds to me like you are angry at everybody, feeling like they all have failed you. Try not to worry about them. Just worry about yourself for awhile; it sounds selfish, but I think it will be good for you.

And worry about "wasting" your life. Nobody is grading your performance. Besides, going to live to be at least 40, right? You still have plenty of time. Figure out exactly what you want in life, and then go get it. The only "wasted time" is the time you spend worrying about your past. F*ck your past. Think about your future. I think make it one day. I believe in you.

  7. A trip to the local DMV may be a better place to find an answer to this question than Yahoo answers. They do the licensing so they would know best.

While you are at the DMV you can also get yourself some study materials. Many times this will be provided free of charge, depending where you live. Making use of this study material will make it easier to pass your tests.

  8. The Key to a Meaningful Life

*** What is the purpose of life? Philosophers, theologians, and scientists have struggled with that question for millenniums. Countless volumes have been written by individuals attempting to answer it. Their have been in vain, and many have concluded that the question cannot be answered. Still, there is an answer. Though profound, it is not complicated. It is explained in the Bible. The key to a happy, meaningful life is this: We must have a proper relationship with Jehovah, our Creator and heavenly Father. How do we achieve that?

There are two seemingly contradictory aspects of drawing close to God. Those who do so both fear him and love him. Let us consider two scriptures that statement. Long ago, wise King Solomon made a careful study of humankind and recorded his findings in the Bible book of Ecclesiastes. Summing up his observations, he wrote: “The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is: Fear the true God and keep his commandments. For this is the whole obligation of man.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13) Centuries later, when asked what was the greatest commandment in the Law given to Moses, Jesus responded: “You must love Jehovah your God with your whole and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.” (Matthew 22:37) Does it seem odd to you that we should both fear God and love him? Let us examine the of fear and love and how they work together to produce a satisfying relationship with God.

What the Fear of God Means
A respectful fear is fundamental if we are to worship God acceptably. The Bible says: “The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom.” (Psalm 111:10) The apostle Paul wrote: “Let us continue to have undeserved kindness, through which we may acceptably render God sacred service with godly fear and awe.” (Hebrews 12:28) Similarly, an angel in midheaven seen in vision by the apostle John began his proclamation of good news with the words: “Fear God and give him glory.”—Revelation 14:6, 7.

This fear of God, so essential to a meaningful life, is not the same as morbid dread. We might feel dread if we are threatened by a cruel and dangerous criminal. But fear of God—or godly fear—is awe and profound reverence for the Creator. It also involves healthful fear of displeasing God because he is the Supreme Judge and the Almighty, who has both the power and the authority to punish those who disobey.

    Fear and Love Work Together
Jehovah does not want people to serve him simply because they are in awe of him. Jehovah is outstandingly a God of love. The apostle John was moved to write: “God is love.” (1 John 4:8) Jehovah God has dealt very lovingly with mankind, and he wants people to respond by loving him in return. How, though, is such love compatible with godly fear? The two are actually linked. The psalmist wrote: “The intimacy with Jehovah belongs to those fearful of him.”—Psalm 25:14.

Just think of the feeling of respect and awe that a child has for a strong and wise father. At the same time, such a child will respond to the father’s love. The child will trust the father and look to him for guidance, confident that this guidance will bring benefits. Similarly, if we love and fear Jehovah, we will obey his direction, and this will benefit us. Notice what Jehovah said concerning the Israelites: “If only they would develop this of theirs to fear me and to keep all my commandments always, in order that it might go well with them and their sons to time indefinite!”—Deuteronomy 5:29.

Yes, godly fear leads not to bondage but to freedom, not to sadness but to joy. Isaiah prophesied about Jesus: “There will be enjoyment by him in the fear of Jehovah.” (Isaiah 11:3) And the psalmist wrote: “Happy is the man in fear of Jehovah, in whose commandments he has taken very much delight.”—Psalm 112:1.

Obviously, we can neither fear God nor love him if we do not know him. That is why a study of the Bible is so Such a study helps us to understand God’s personality and to come to appreciate the wisdom of following his direction. As we draw closer to God, we want to do his will and we are motivated to keep his commandments, knowing that they will benefit us.—1 John 5:3.
